They did, however, tell WJTV-12 News and the Laurel Leader-Call that Hardy was shot in the upper leg at an outdoor concert, per ESPN. Hardy is reportedly alert and moving around, per ESPN, and is expected to eventually return to the football field.

At least two people were injured and three people of interest are in custody, per ESPN.

Hardy, 20, is coming off a fantastic season with Missouri. As a sophomore, he rushed for a conference-high 1,649 yards. He also scored 16 rushing touchdowns. It was Hardy’s first season at Missouri.

Prior to that, Hardy starred with Louisiana-Monroe as a freshman. In his one season with the team, Hardy rushed for 1,351 yards and 13 rushing touchdowns. Both figures led the Sun Belt that season. That performance was strong enough to make Hardy an All-American entering his first season with Missouri.

Following his first two seasons, Hardy was getting high-round draft buzz for the 2027 NFL Draft. It’s unclear how much time he’ll miss following the shooting.
