The PGA of America is once again offering a record purse this spring.

The organization announced on Saturday, in the middle of the third round of the PGA Championship, that it was putting up a $20.5 million purse for the major championship. While that’s still less than some other big events on the golf calendar, it set a record for the PGA Championship.

That means that whoever claims the Wanamaker Trophy on Sunday afternoon at Aronimink Golf Club will also take home a $3.69 million check.

By comparison, the 2025 PGA Championship offered a $19 million purse. That sent Scottie Scheffler home with a $3.42 million check for his win last season at Quail Hollow. While that was a then-record for the major, it was one of the lowest among the majors. The PGA Tour’s signature events typically offer $20 million purses, and The Players Championship tops the list at $25 million.

Rory McIlroy earned a $4.5 million check for his win at Augusta National last month, which was part of a $22.5 million purse at the Masters. The U.S. Open was close behind with a $21.5 million purse last season, and the British Open was last at $17 million.

Here’s a look at how much is up for grabs this week at Aronimink.
