Ex-Iowa State F Milan Momcilovic withdraws from NBA Draft, remains in NCAA transfer portal
Former Iowa State forward Milan Momcilovic has become the most coveted player in college basketball’s transfer portal.
Momcilovic withdrew his name from the 2026 NBA Draft on Wednesday night. The sharpshooter had entered both the transfer portal and the NBA Draft after the 2025-26 season. And now he’s in search of a new school to continue his college basketball career.
According to On3, Kentucky, Louisville, Arizona and St. John’s are some of the top contenders from Momcilovic’s services. From On3:
Several sources believe Louisville and Kentucky are the frontrunners, with St. John’s as a true dark horse. While Arizona has also come up in conversations, it sounds like the Tommy Lloyd and the Wildcats still have some work to do in order to close the gap.

Momcilovic averaged just under 17 points per game and shot almost 49% from behind the 3-point line last season. He shot over 50% from the field on 11 attempts per game and averaged 7.5 3-point attempts. In his three seasons at Iowa State, the Wisconsin native has shot 43% from behind the arc. He was a 40% shooter from the 3-point line as a sophomore when he averaged 11.5 points per game.
Iowa State was a No. 2 seed in the 2026 NCAA tournament and took down Kentucky in the second round before losing to Tennessee in the Sweet 16. The Cyclones played those two games without All-American Joshua Jefferson after he suffered an ankle injury in the team’s first-round win.
The Wildcats are looking to remake their roster ahead of what’s a pivotal third season for coach Mark Pope. Kentucky underachieved in 2025-26, while Arkansas made the Elite Eight with former UK coach John Calipari.
Louisville has also added top transfer Flory Bidunga from Kansas and Oregon guard Jackson Shelstad. The Cardinals currently have the No. 11 class in On3’s rankings and could vault much higher with the addition of Momcilovic.
