Vikings reportedly hiring Seahawks assistant GM Nolan Teasley as next general manager
The Minnesota Vikings are hiring former Seattle Seahawks assistant GM Nolan Teasley as their new general manager, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Saturday.
The Vikings fired Kewsi Adofo-Mensah in late January after four seasons with the team coming off a disappointing 9-8 campaign in 2025, less than a year after signing a multi-year extension with the franchise.
The team then announced that executive vice president of football operations Rob Brzezinski would lead the group through the NFL draft before beginning its official search for a new GM.
Teasley originally joined the Seahawks back in 2013 as an intern in the scouting department and was promoted through the ranks. He worked as a pro personnel scout from 2014-2016, the assistant director of pro personnel in 2017, and was promoted to the director of pro personnel, a position he held for five years. He was named the assistant GM in February of 2023, working under long-time general manager John Schneider.
Teasley inherits a Vikings roster with one major looming question ahead of 2026 — the quarterback position, which likely contributed, in part, to Adofo-Mensah’s firing. The team signed free agent Kyler Murray after he was released by the Arizona Cardinals this offseason to compete with third-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy — a failed experiment, to this point.
Under Adofo-Mensah, the team traded up to select McCarthy out of Michigan 10th overall as the heir-apparent to Kirk Cousins after signing then-free agent Sam Darnold to a one-year, $10 million contract.
After McCarthy suffered a season-ending knee injury in his rookie preseason, Darnold went on to start all 17 games for the Vikings in 2024, leading the team to an NFC North division title on the back of a 14-3 season. He posted a career-high 4,319 passing yards and 35 passing touchdowns, earning his first career Pro Bowl nod.
The team elected not to bring back Darnold in free agency, and he went on to sign a three-year, $100.5 million deal with the Seahawks … who went on to win Super Bowl LX.
McCarthy, meanwhile, hasn’t panned out as expected under head coach Kevin O’Connell.
