2026 U.S. Open odds: Scottie Scheffler is big favorite to complete the career grand slam at Shinnecock

The 2026 U.S. Open begins on Thursday from Shinnecock Hills in New York and a familiar name is atop the oddsboard: World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.

Scheffler is a +550 favorite to win the tournament and complete the career grand slam — and at several sportsbooks, he's the only golfer with single-digit odds.

Rory McIlroy, the 2026 Masters champion, has the next-best odds at 11-1 at BetMGM, followed by Jon Rahm (12-1). Cameron Young and Xander Schauffele (20-1) lead the next group of players with odds of 20-1 or higher.

While you can find the odds for every golfer right here, Scheffler is once again the pivot point for sportsbooks. Scheffler has the most wagers (15.2%) and total dollars wagered (27.2%) of any golfer at BetMGM, and currently represents the worst outcome for the book.

It's the 15th straight major in which Scheffler will enter the tournament as either the outright favorite or co-favorite. Scheffler was an overwhelming +275 favorite before last year's U.S. Open.

Young (20-1) has the second-most wagers, which has contributed to him being the third-biggest liability at the sportsbook. McIlroy has the third-most wagers to win and is the second-worst result at BetMGM books.

Matt Fitzpatrick, who has six top-10 finishes this season including a second-place finish over the weekend at the RBC Canadian Open, has seen a dramatic odds shift from an opening price of 100-1 to his current number at 22-1.

Bettors also have the option to bet the field (-900) against Scheffler (+550). Scheffler last won a major at the 2025 Open Championship.
