8-time Pro Bowl DE Cameron Jordan reportedly finalizing 1-year deal to return to Saints

Defensive end Cameron Jordan, a New Orleans Saints icon, is finalizing a one-year, incentive-filled contract with the franchise during his visit with the team on Tuesday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Jordan, who will turn 37 next month, has spent all 15 of his NFL seasons with the Saints. In the process, he’s collected eight Pro Bowl accolades and piled up 132 sacks, the most in franchise history, at least since that statistic became official in 1982.

The 2011 first-round pick started all 17 games for New Orleans this past season. He clocked out with a team-leading 10.5 sacks — his most in a season since he stacked 12.5 in 2021 — and a team-high 15 TFLs. He also forced a pair of fumbles.

During the 2025 campaign, Jordan formed an effective duo off the edge with Chase Young. About 10 years younger than Jordan, Young had somewhat of a long-awaited breakout during his age-26 season. Despite playing in only 12 games, the 2020 No. 2 overall pick registered his first-ever double-digit sack season in the league. As the Saints finished strong last season, so did Young, who mounted five of his 10 sacks in the team’s final four games.

As for Jordan, he became a free agent in March after his most recent contract with the Saints automatically voided. Notably, New Orleans acquired former Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Tyree Wilson in a trade during this year’s draft. In that deal, the Saints also picked up a seventh-round pick, which they used on Iowa cornerback TJ Hall, and delivered the Raiders a 2026 fifth-round pick in exchange.

Las Vegas took Wilson with the No. 7 overall pick out of Texas Tech in the 2023 draft. He hasn’t realized his full potential yet, however, as he started just seven games and combined for 12 sacks in three seasons with the Raiders.

Bringing in Wilson didn’t stop the Saints from welcoming Jordan’s reportedly impending return.

Along with serving as a defensive stalwart for New Orleans, Jordan’s been a staple in the city for a decade and a half. He bridged eras of Saints football, starting his career with the team a mere two seasons after the franchise’s lone Super Bowl victory.

As a third-year pro, Jordan made his first Pro Bowl in 2013. From 2017-22, the former Cal standout received that honor every season. He was a first-team All-Pro in 2017 and a second-team All-Pro in 2018 and 2019. Jordan set a single-season career high with 15.5 sacks in 2019.

The 2026 season would be Jordan’s 16th in the league.
