Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Kyle Tucker (back spasms) and catcher Dalton Rushing (concussion) both left Monday's game against the Minnesota Twins due to injuries.

Tucker appeared to sustain his injury while running the bases in the top of the second inning. He reached first on a one-out walk, then advanced to second on a Tommy Edman single.

With Rushing at the plate, Tucker knelt to a crouch at second base in apparent pain. The Dodgers called for time, and Tucker jogged off the field to the dugout. Manager Dave Roberts replaced him at second with Alex Call.

The game was tied 1-1 when Tucker exited. The Dodgers later announced that he left the game due to back spasms. The severity of Tucker's injury wasn't initially clear.

Rushing leaves due to concussion

Rushing also left the game prior to the third inning due to a concussion that he appears to have sustained behind the plate off a foul tip in the first.

Rushing remained in the game. He popped out in his second-inning at-bat and took his place behind the plate for the bottom half of the frame. But he was replaced on defense in the third inning by backup catcher Chuckie Robinson.

The Dodgers later announced that he had sustained a concussion.

Tucker joined the Dodgers as a free agent in the offseason after making four straight All-Star teams with the Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs. Through 74 games prior to Monday, Tucker had failed to find his All-Star form with the Dodgers, slashing .234/.331/.374 with 6 home runs and 40 RBI.

Rushing is in his second season with the Dodgers. He played in 53 games as a rookie and made one postseason at-bat during the Dodgers' run to the championship. Monday marked his 46th game behind the plate this season. He entered Monday slashing .254/.342/.485 with 8 home runs and 22 RBI.

It wasn't initially clear if Tucker or Rushing would miss additional time.
