Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold was arrested in Florida on Wednesday, Tampa police confirmed.

The 23-year-old former first-round draft pick faces four charges of kidnapping and four charges of armed robbery over an incident in which he previously denied all involvement. The kidnapping charges alone carry a maximum penalty of life in prison.

Arnold, whom Tampa police allege was "the primary conspirator" in a group of six other people charged, voluntarily surrendered and was taken into custody at Orient Road Jail in Hillsborough County. Per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, two of the defendants in the case pleaded guilty on Wednesday and agreed to testify for the state in future proceedings.

A representative for Arnold released a statement continuing to deny all involvement and questioning the integrity of the testimony against him:

"Terrion Arnold categorically denies any involvement in the matters underlying the allegations made against him and maintains his innocence.

"There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations. Instead, the government appears to be relying on testimony from multiple convicted felons who have admitted their own involvement and may have substantial incentives to shift blame in an effort to lessen their sentences.

"Mr. Arnold looks forward to his day in court and is confident that the judicial process will lead to his ultimate vindication."

The Lions released their own statement via the Free Press:

"We are aware of the legal situation regarding Terrion Arnold. We will not comment at this time out of respect for the ongoing legal process."

The incident in question occurred in February, when authorities claim Arnold and others believed a group of three men had stolen items from their Airbnb and reported a property loss of more than $250,000 to the Largo Police Department.

Per the Free Press, the three victims were Arnold's driver and two of the driver's associates.

Members of Arnold's group are alleged to have ambushed the victims in the apartment and spent the better part of an hour beating and interrogating them at gunpoint, with one woman allegedly live-streaming the proceedings to Arnold as he traveled to the apartment. Investigators also allegedly found a group chat with all the defendants, in which Arnold and childhood friend Boakai Hilton Jr., who is also charged, give directions during the assault.

The victims were eventually released at around 1:40 a.m., minus some personal property allegedly taken by the accused.

Arnold has denied involvement at every juncture, including when a judge involved in the case mentioned his alleged involvement and claimed one of the defendants was Arnold's girlfriend.

Arnold has played two seasons in the NFL since being selected in the first round, 24th overall, in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Tallahassee native and Alabama product has recorded 91 total tackles, 18 passes defended and 1 interception in 24 career games, but missed the end of last season due to shoulder surgery.

The Lions have previously stood by him, with head coach Dan Campbell saying in March, "It seems like he still wasn't involved with this."
