The hardest-throwing starting pitcher ever is 0.4 mph away from becoming the hardest-throwing pitcher ever.

That would be Milwaukee Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski, who once again set a record for the fastest pitch ever recorded by a starter on Friday, with a 105.5-mph heater against Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong. It's the third-fastest pitch on record.

Crow-Armstrong fouled it off to keep the count 0-2 but struck out on a cutter three pitches later.

That was one of 12 four-seam fastballs thrown by Misiorowski in the first inning against the Cubs. None of them was slower than 102 mph.

The only pitches harder than 105.5 mph and measured by Statcast in MLB history: Aroldis Chapman at 105.8 mph in 2010 and Aroldis Chapman at 105.7 mph in 2016, via MLB.com's Sarah Langs.

Given that Misirowski was topping out at 103.6 mph a month ago and has been ticking up since then, it sure seems possible that he could surpass that record.

This article will be updated with more information.
