Heat F Andrew Wiggins will reportedly sign 3-year, $64 million extension to stay with franchise
The Miami Heat reportedly intend to sign forward Andrew Wiggins to a three-year, $64 million extension, per ESPN's Shams Charania.
The deal was negotiated by the forward's agents at CAA Sports and includes a player option for the third season.
Wiggins, 31, has been in the league since 2014, when he was drafted first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He never played with his original team, though, as he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a three-team deal centered on Kevin Love going to Cleveland.
It was just the second time since the NBA/ABA merger in 1976 that a player was drafted No. 1 overall and traded before playing a game with the team that drafted him.
The forward was named the NBA's Rookie of the Year in 2015, after averaging 16.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and playing in each regular season game that year.
The forward spent five and a half seasons with Minnesota before he was traded to the Golden State Warriors. While with the Warriors, he won the 2022 NBA Championship, his lone title in his career so far.
Wiggins was traded again in the 2024-2025 season to Miami as part of a deal that sent Jimmy Butler to Golden State. He played in only 17 games for the Heat after the trade.
2025-2026 was the first full season for Wiggins with the Heat. He played in 68 games and averaged 15.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists.
Wiggins is now under contract for three years, with Miami choosing to partner him with new acquisition Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was acquired on June 22 from the Milwaukee Bucks.
