Bieber joins a halftime show that will look to rival the Super Bowl. Madonna, Shakira and the K-pop band BTS had previously been announced for the performance.
While those are the headlining acts, they are not the only musicians performing. "Afrobeats star Burna Boy, Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the PS22 Chorus — a choir of elementary school students based in Staten Island, New York — will also perform, with the last one joined by Coldplay."
The World Cup Final is scheduled for Sunday, July 19. It will air on Fox beginning at 3 p.m. ET. There is sure to be a lot of pomp and circumstance around the end of the tournament, and this halftime show helps to show that.
Bieber talked about the World Cup and what being selected for the halftime show meant for him. "The FIFA World Cup brings the world together in a way nothing else can. I'm grateful to be part of this Halftime Show, and even more grateful knowing it's already helping expand access to education for children around the world."
The halftime show is supporting the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which is raising $100 million to help children around the world gain access to education and soccer.
