Fantasy Football Video: Is Andy Reid becoming a problem for managers invested in the Chiefs' offense?

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid's legacy will be that of one of the best NFL coaches of all-time. He will also be remembered for boosting plenty of offensive player's fantasy football stock over the years.

But after making the playoffs in 11 of 12 seasons, including five trips to the Super Bowl and three wins, the Chiefs finally looked pedestrian in 2025.

Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the postseason for the first time since 2014. QB Patrick Mahomes was injured late in the season but had gone 6-8 prior to his torn ACL. So even before Mahomes went down, this offense was underperforming under Reid for what feels like the first time in a while.

The Chiefs would finish in the bottom half in points per game (21.3) and yards per game (320.6). Which begs the question, has Reid become bad for the passing-game pieces on Kansas City?

Matt Harmon was joined by Sharp Football's Rich Hribar to discuss the Chiefs' outlook for 2026 on the latest episode of the Yahoo Fantasy Forecast.

Harmon immediately acknowledges that the above question is pretty wild to say as someone who is doing a podcast from a home office. Reid is going to coast into the Hall of Fame when his career is over. But Harmon is having a difficult time getting excited about any of the pass-catchers on the Chiefs at the moment.

There's a lot of chaos surrounding Rashee Rice, and while RB Kenneth Walker III is appealing, it's hard to get excited about anyone else in the passing game, including Xavier Worthy, Travis Kelce and mostly unknowns. It seems the Chiefs and Reid are being lapped by other offenses around the league who are doing more innovative play-calling, per Harmon.

Going back to Rice, Harmon has his top-three player comps as Deebo Samuel Sr., Kadarius Toney's rookie season and another Samuel season. It's clear that Rice is more dependent on Kansas City's system to be productive, plus the Chiefs don't have a man-coverage beater.

So Harmon isn't interested in drafting anyone in the WR room right now.

And after all this, the two haven't even touched on Mahomes' injury. But perhaps the Chiefs lean into the run early on with Walker after signing him to a big free-agent contract.
