2026 MLB All-Star Game live updates: Dylan Cease, Christopher Sánchez take mound as AL, NL face off in Midsummer Classic
Welcome to the 96th Midsummer Classic, coming at you live from Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. Some of MLB's biggest stars will take the field Tuesday night, representing the American League and National League, though several players have been ruled out due to injury or bullpen-schedule constraints.
Among those out of action are Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani, who’s managing a knee injury, as well as New York Yankees star outfielder Aaron Judge, who's been out since early June with a rib fracture. All-Star pitchers Jacob Misiorowski (scratched with fatigue after missing last start) and Paul Skenes (pitched Sunday) are out as well.
That doesn't mean there won't be plenty of stars worth tuning in to watch, though. Phillies pitcher Christopher Sánchez will start on the mound for the NL, while Blue Jays starter Dylan Cease gets the start for the AL. Astros DH Yordan Álvarez, who leads MLB with a 1.059 OPS and 31 home runs, is batting second in the lineup for the AL behind Angels CF Mike Trout, who will lead off after a recent stint on the IL.
Phillies DH Kyle Schwarber will lead off for the NL in front of his hometown crowd after falling to Cardinals' Jordan Walker in the final of yesterday's Home Run Derby.
