The Los Angeles Angels say they will not cancel Saturday’s game against the Texas Rangers in spite of an ongoing chemical leak incident in nearby Garden Grove.

“We are closely monitoring the ongoing situation and remain in contact with local officials. At this time, there are no changes to tonight’s scheduled game against the Rangers,” the team said in a statement, via Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com.

The site of the chemical leak is about 9 miles southwest of Angel Stadium in Anaheim. The game is set to take place at 7 p.m. PT.

Earlier on Saturday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency over the leak, which has led to an evacuation order that affects 50,000 local residents. Per the state, a chemical storage tank at GKN Aerospace began emitting toxic fumes on Thursday, and local first responders in Orange County have been unable to mitigate the issue.

The tank contained methyl methacrylate, a volatile and flammable liquid; the ongoing situation leaves the area at risk of a potential explosion.

Saturday’s game against the Rangers is the second in a three-game series against their AL West rivals, with the series finale set to take place on Sunday.

This story will be updated.
