Russell Wilson releases a 'Thank You' video to football as he transitions to TV role
Veteran quarterback Russell Wilson released a heartfelt video to his social media accounts Wednesday.
Wilson is set to join the CBS crew as an NFL analyst and is saying goodbye to football for now.
The video he released was titled "Thank You, Football," and he signed the caption, "Love, #3."
In the video, Wilson takes a trip down memory lane. Starting with his childhood and his start in football, all the way through his high school and college days.

The former quarterback even thanked former Seattle head coach Pete Carroll for taking a chance on him and selecting Wilson in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. "Thanks for taking a chance on a young, 5-11, black kid from Richmond, Virginia that was told he was too small to ever make it in the NFL."
He talked in the video about his passion for football turning into an obsession, and then listed example after example of what the game has given him off the field.
Wilson went on to thank the city of Seattle for the impact it had on him, saying, "You raised me." The quarterback won the 2014 Super Bowl with the Seahawks, the lone championship of his career, if this does end up being it for him.
The former quarterback then had a message for his kids. "Wake up every day believing you can do great things, because greatness is already inside of you."
Wilson ends the video by saying, "I thank you, football. I thank you, I thank you, I thank you. I am forever grateful. Love, 3."
The former quarterback says goodbye to playing football for now. He will turn his attention to preparing to join CBS' cast of "The NFL Today," the network's pregame show on Sundays.
It won't be his first time on TV with the network. During the New York Giants' bye week last year in Week 14, Wilson filled in as a guest analyst. It is safe to assume the trial went well, and now he will still be part of NFL Sundays, albeit in a different way.
