Former NBA star Lamar Odom will enter a plea of no-contest in a DUI case in Las Vegas after his arrest earlier this year, his attorney told The Associated Press.

Odom was arrested on Jan. 17 and charged with driving under the influence, speeding and failure to stay in a driving lane. His no-contest plea will reduce the DUI charge down to a reckless driving charge without admitting guilt. Odom was scheduled for a bench trial on Tuesday.

Odom, 46, was spotted by a Nevada State Police trooper driving more than 100 mph on a Las Vegas area interstate on Jan. 17. The officer said that Odom then changed lanes without signaling as he was being pulled over, and that both Odom and an unidentified male passenger both had red, watery eyes and smelled of marijuana.

Odom reportedly changed his story multiple times when speaking with the trooper, and he later failed a field sobriety test and was arrested.

Odom was selected with the No. 4 overall pick out of Rhode Island in the 1999 NBA Draft and played in the league for 14 seasons. The former Sixth Man of the Year won back-to-back titles with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2009 and 2010.

But drug use derailed the end of his career and ruptured his marriage to reality TV star Khloe Kardashian. The couple's wedding was featured on her reality TV show in 2009, but they divorced for good in 2016. A drug overdose left Odom comatose in a Las Vegas hospital for three days in 2015 after he was found unconscious in a brothel.

Odom still says that he doesn't remember taking drugs that night, though he said he had 12 strokes and six heart attacks. Odom's life and near-fatal overdose were the subject of a new Netflix "Untold" documentary released earlier this year.
