Chris Boswell, Steelers reportedly agree to 4-year, $28 million extension
One of the most reliable kickers in the NFL is sticking around for four more years. Pittsburgh Steelers mainstay Chris Boswell reportedly agreed to a four-year, $28 million extension, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The deal ties Boswell with Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey for the highest average annual salary ever among NFL kickers.

Boswell’s journey to the Steelers was quite circuitous. After going undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft, Boswell failed to make both the Houston Texans and New York Giants before the Steelers took a shot on him in 2015.
With the team devastated by injuries at the position and offseason trade acquisition Josh Scobee struggling, the Steelers signed Boswell that October and never looked back. He converted on over 90 percent of his field goal attempts in his first season, and has remained with the Steelers ever since.
While Boswell has had a few seasons in which his field goal accuracy fluctuated, he’s managed seven years with a conversion rate over 90 percent or higher. Over his 11-year NFL career, Boswell has an 87.7 field goal percentage. That figure ranks as the sixth-highest in NFL history.
Boswell has been recognized for his excellence twice during his career. He made his first Pro Bowl in 2017. After a handful of solid years, Boswell again made the Pro Bowl in 2024. He also received his first-ever All-Pro nod that season after leading the NFL with 41 made field goals.
With the deal, the 35-year-old Boswell will remain under contract with Pittsburgh through the 2030 NFL season. Given his age, it could be the final NFL contract he signs.
