Comments Off on Lions sign Jack Campbell to 4-year extension through 2030 season after declining LB's fifth-year option

Jack Campbell broke the news on Thursday that the 25-year-old linebacker’s inked a new deal with the Detroit Lions.

“What’s up, One Pride Nation?” Campbell said in a video the Lions posted on social media. “Jack Campbell here. I just want to let you guys know, I signed my extension. I’m excited to be back. I’m excited to be here long term. Now it’s time to go win a Super Bowl.”

Campbell, part of a slam-dunk Lions 2023 draft class, has agreed to a four-year extension through the 2030 season, the team announced. The Iowa product has a new deal after the Lions declined his fifth-year option earlier this offseason.

Campbell’s option would’ve been almost $22 million for 2027. That price, which is inflated by pass rusher deals, would have been more than what the NFL’s current highest-paid off-ball linebacker, San Franciso 49ers stalwart Fred Warner, is making in AAV.

This story is being updated.
