Kyle Busch was struggling to breath when a call was made to 911 asking for an ambulance to come to the General Motors Charlotte Technical Center in Concord, North Carolina, on Wednesday.

In a call obtained by TMZ, an unidentified male made the call around 5:30 p.m. ET Wednesday, telling the 911 operator that Busch had “shortness of breath, very hot, thinks he’s going to pass out and is producing a little bit of blood — coughing up some blood.”

Busch was at the General Motors facility Wednesday testing in a racing simulator when he became ill, according to the Associated Press, which reported that he was taken to a Charlotte hospital.

Busch, 41, died Thursday, his family announced, shocking the entire racing community.

No cause of death has been reported.

Busch is survived by his wife, Samantha, children Brexton and Lennix, brother Kurt and many other family members.

He was in the midst of his 22nd Cup season, competing just 11 days ago at Watkins Glen, where he finished eighth — his best result of the season. In the middle of that race, Busch complained over his radio of a sinus issue and even requested a doctor be brought to his team bus after the race.

Just six days ago, Busch won the Truck Series race at Dover, in what would be his last NASCAR points race.

When asked after the victory why the winning moments never get old, Busch responded, “Because you never know when the last one is.”
